Product Images and Artwork Requirements

Artwork / Labels are the printed branding on a product, from plastic wraps such as on a drinks bottle to a box of cereal, the artwork is all that is printed and forms the identity as well as all the information specific to hat products.

The needed Artwork / Label for each Project type varies. Here is a list of the requirements based on each project type. I.e. 2.5D Virual Shelf, or a 3D Viewer etc..

1 - 2.5D Virtual Shelf

All product images must be in PNG with the background removed and the Image resolution must not be lower than 650 x 650pix on any edge. This is not the DPI. But rather the image must not have any edge length lower than 650 pixels. This is important to make sure the product image is clear enough

2 - 3D Virtual Shelf

Any concepts supplied will need to have sufficient reference material, i.e. 1 new concept will need the overall dimensions, photos from the front/side/top, so we can build this in 3D.

Artwork supplied we need this is Hi-res PDFs with fonts outlined and not embedded.

3 - 3D Product Viewer

Artwork files are supplied in a number of formats, such as PDFs, JPEGs, Tiffs. However for the best results we will need to the Artwork to be supplied to the below specifications: (Illustrator files are not accepted)

  • File format must be in PDF with all the fonts outlined (i.e. not embedded, but turned into vector paths)

  • Cutter Guides must not be baked in as a raster, they must always stay as vector paths (i.e. must not become part of artwork raster graphics. This will make it very difficult to remove the cutters otherwise)

  • Embedded raster images must be high quality, sometimes, saving as PDFs can degrade the raster images due to optimisations settings

  • Send the Artworks via the Project SharePoint folder as provided for each client per project bases.

What if we can not provide PDFs?

If the client can not provide PDFs then we request that they supply a High Res JPEG with-out and With the cutter guides per product.

An example AW(Artwork) from passed project.

Here is an example artwork / Label, that was provided by a client. This is a good sample as the cutters are on a separate layer and all the fonts have been outlined.
